Group twelve of young professionals, of eleven nationalities, of UN office in Nairobi (UN-HABITAT, UNEP and UNON) has organized the fund-raising Halloween Party to assist Watu Kwa Watu beneficiaries. Collected funds, approximately US$ 600, are being used for repairs of the the walls in selected classrooms in Starkid School and Rescue Center.
In addition, the same group of UN professional have collected used clothing for young women and girls, all in good condition. It has been divided into several boxes by Watu Kwa Watu trustees:
The largest box went to the Starkid School and Rescue Centre in
Githogoro Slum near Runda, for High School girls, for teachers and for
girls in the Rescue Centre.
The next box went to St. Phillip School in Mathare Slum, for teachers.
The next to Huruma Elderly Home, in Huruma Slum near Runda.
Next box went to weatern Kenya for a widow (Caroline) and her 3 daughters
(Isabel, Beatriz and Olivia) whose house was burned down earlier this
year (Watu Kwa Watu is supporting education of these 3 girls and
presently finishing to rebuild the house, with donations from friends
in Poland and in USA)
Finally, few large-size pieces of clothing went also to Western Kenya to a very poor
grandmother of an AIDS orphan young man, whose education Watu Kwa Watu
is also supporting, through donations from Germany, Spain and
Switzerland.
