The orphan twins have been living for the last two years in the Nest Children Home in Limuru, about 20 km from Nairobi, since their fragile grandmother and unemployed aunt had absolutely no means to accommodate and support them. The Nest was much too far for the twins to have any contact with their remaining family, who are sharing a little room in the Huruma slum in Nairobi. They also could not continue to stay longer in the Nest, which is mandated to assist the homeless half-orphan children of mothers currently in prisons, and has a long and desperate waiting list.
The transfer of Margaret and Francis to the Starkid School and Rescue Centre was made possible by the commitment of Kristin and Mats, the couple of Swedish agricultural researchers from near Gothenburg, who are donating regularly, on monthly bases, for the accommodation of the twins, food and schooling costs at Starkid. The Nest has donated the bed, mattresses, beddings and clothing for the twins.
The transfer has been arranged by Watu Kwa Watu, which will also continuously monitor the progress of the twins and inform their sponsors.
