Feeding programs in school expanded under Covid-19

Posted on June 29, 2020 by tsudra in Assistance to orphanages, Assistance to very poor families, Assistance to very poor schools

Covid-19 results in drastically reduced incomes of slum families depending on day-laborer and other informal jobs. For many no money for food. Also, the teachers in the community-based schools receive no salaries. This necessitates expending the feeding programs in the schools, we collaborate with, to include as much as possible the families of the children, at least the poorest ones, as well as the teachers and their families. The funding is being provided by the ACH (African Children Haven) of Galveston, TX, USA, and the CIC (Catholic International Community) in Nairobi. The delivery of food is being facilitated by the Karuna Charitable Trust, which is also providing some funding and channeling in-kind donations from the Indian community in Nairobi. Below are some photographs from 3 schools, which are being assisted: Overseers Education Center in Kangemi Slum, Starkid School and Rescue Center in Githogoro Slum, and St. Judah Education Center in Mathare Valley Slum.
