Hilary, Irish professional of UN-HABITAT and UNEP, departing from Kenya having completed her contracts, donates various items to Watu Kwa Watu to benefit the poor.

Posted on May 9, 2016 by tsudra in Uncategorized

The items donated by Hilary – including her guitar, stationary, art supplies, clothing, shoes etc – have benefited, among others, Starkid School and Rescue Centre, St. Philips School Mathare, as well as some poor families in Githogoro and Kawangware slums in Nairobi and in Mbita in Western Kenya.

Such donations to Watu Kwa Watu beneficiaries by the UN officials departing Nairobi, have been initiated by the gifts from Mohamed, an Egyptian UN-HABITAT former professional, in 2012.

Watu Kwa Watu encourages departing international professionals and officials, and also those continuing in the country, to consider a similar way of disposing of some of their unneeded belongings, which could be very useful to very poor schools, orphanages, and families.
