A pilot stage of a new feeding program has started on 4 May at the Overseers’ Education Centre in Kangemi slum in Nairobi. It is fully funded by the ACH (African Children Haven) of Galveston, Texas, USA, has been arranged and is being managed and monitored by Watu Kwa Watu Charitable Trust in collaboration with Karuna Trust. Karuna Trust arranges the bi-weekly deliveries of food supplies. The pilot stage consists of uji (local millet-based cereal) on school-days for 150 children and 10 teachers. If this stage, lasting 3 months, will be successful, the program maybe expanded, depending on availability of funds, to include more varied diet.
